College Girl Bedroom Reveal

Today, I'm sharing my 20 yr old daughter's bedroom. This room has been through a few transformations since we moved into our house, 10 years ago. As a matter of fact, it's the only room that has been through so many looks. It started out with aqua walls and a beach decor - starfish, shells, lanterns , you name it. A couple of years later, she decided she wanted to get rid of the beach theme, keep the aqua walls and add hot pink with cheetah print comforter, hot pink rugs and curtains. Then she didn't want the cheetah print anymore, so she got rid of it and asked (bribed) a few friends from high school to help her change the aqua walls to turquoise. She added white and gold decor to the room.

A few months back, she mentioned she wanted a room that reflected her, as a young adult. Ok... if you're rolling your eyes and shaking your head in disbelief, then you feel me, because I did too, and let out a deep sigh when she asked for another bedroom makeover, too. I mean, I'm all about making memories with my kids, and I love makeovers, but...

She wanted a minimalist bedroom decor with cream walls, blush and gold accents. What! My favorite colors! I couldn't say noooooo.

She had a wish list :

1. Desk

2. Shelves

3. Sitting Area

4. Makeup Station (Vanity)

5. Glamour Mirror

6. White Rug

7. Headboard

8. Blush, Gold and Ivory/Creams

She left to Turkey for a week, and my husband and I worked late nights for this bedroom makeover so that we could give her the big surprise upon her return.

  • Her walls went from turquoise to Marshmallow.

  • We installed floating shelves.

  • We gave her a desk, and a ghost chair for that minimal look.

  • We removed the ceiling fan, and installed a chandelier.

  • We repurposed a wing chair we had, and purchased a pink/blush cover.

  • A Small accent table to give it a cozy look, and it tied that corner together (Ross Store)
